The southernmost railway station on the line is Pattayakavu railway station. The nearest airport is Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery a distance of 71 km or an hour’s drive away. Vagamon Pine Forest

The pine forests are a popular tourist spot in Vagamon. This forest is called ‘Trees that never die’. The plantation is done by Travancore Co-operative Pineapples Ltd. The forest is situated in Vagamon-Mattancherry Road on the uphill to Mattancherry. It has been declared as a national forest under the wildlife protection act, 1972.

This place has a separate history of its own which forms an important part of tourism activities in Vagamon. One can see several types of trees at this place like santal and jackfruit which are indigenous to this region and are very rare in other parts of the country.

Barren Hills

One of the hills near Vagamon town. There is a small temple on the summit. One can climb it on foot. One of the best places to enjoy the sunset. Number of Steps: About 400. On top of the hills near Barren Hills Temple. One can hear the echo coming back after clapping. This place is also famous for trekking and camping.

Vagamon Meadows

This is another place that is famous for trekking in vagamon. It has a meadow on top of the rocky hills. The hill is about 2100 feet above sea level where tourists will be able to see the Vagamon town, kalarippayattu ground, Panakkad bridge and Kuttikkanam backwater from it. Number of steps: About 300

Vagamon Lake

It is one of the famous tourist places in Vagamon. It is situated with scenic beauty and surrounded by greenery. Many people come to this lake to enjoy boating, trekking and picnicking. This is a perennial water body and thus it is always full of water. The fish available in the lake are prawn, Catla, hilsa, threadfin which are very tasty. Another lake beside Vagamon town is Kuttikkanam Lake.

Vagamon Byra

The small hill near Vagamon town has become a famous tourist place in Vagamon. One can see the panoramic view from its top. A large number of people come here to camp during festivals. This place is also called “The best camping ground in Kerala”. One can have a nice time here during any season by boating, hiking and picnicking with family or friends.

Vagamon Falls

Vagamon Falls is about 10 km from Vagamon town. One can come here on foot or by car for a nice walk through the falls. The main attraction of this place is the water cascade and rock formation. This place has become very famous in recent years with the advent of tourism in Vagamon. It is a picnic spot and is visited by many tourists during weekends.

Punaloor Cave

Punaloor cave is at Chitharal, a small town on the way to Vagamon from Thodupuzha. This place offers a variety of adventurous activities like rock climbing, rappelling, spelunking etc. The day trip to Punalur cave around 1-hour journey through the scenic beauty of Vagamon will be an unforgettable experience.
